TRANSPARENCY
Show the math
Government can be complicated. Government communication doesn't have to be.For major municipal decisions, residents should be able to understand:
What are we trying to fix?
- What will it cost?
- Who pays?
- What alternatives were considered?
- Why was this option chosen?
- What are the risks
- How will we know whether it worked?
Those questions come directly from the transparency framework we've already developed.
Priorities
- Explain major municipal decisions in plain language.
- Make the real costs and funding sources easier to understand.
- Make source information easier for residents to find.
- Follow major decisions after approval and report what actually happened.
- Be willing to correct information when the evidence changes.
The goal
Make it easier to understand where public money goes, why decisions are made and whether they worked.
